The Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone has awarded Chinese government scholarship to 116 students in the country in a bid to help them further their studies in China this year, a release reached to Xinhua on Thursday said.
Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone Hu Zhangliang said the two countries have maintained close educational cooperation over years, adding that more than 800 students have accorded opportunities to study in China under the Chinese Government Scholarship program.
He said the Chinese government launched a new program called China -Africa Friendship Scholarship, and 10 Sierra Leonean students were admitted.
“Education determines the present and future of humanity and that a country needs to continuously cultivate the talents needed by society through education,” he said.
Minister of Technical and Higher Education Aiah Gabkima thanks the Chinese government for the opportunity accorded to Sierra Leoneans to study in China.
He called on the awardees to pay attention to their work and represent Sierra Leone well in China.
